KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Chairperson of the rival faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that Jhakri was arrested on the direct orders of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
"She was arrested because she has been a vocal supporter of democracy. It is an attack on democracy," he said at an event organized at Parisdanda in Kathmandu.
Dahal said that Jhakri was arrested despite their request to the authorities not to do so. "We will take further steps against this arrest," he added.
Jhakri is currently being kept in custody at the Metropolitan Crime Division at Min Bhawan.
In an arrest warrant issued against Jhakri, police accused her of committing a crime against the state by giving slandering remarks against President Bhandari at a public event in Gorkha recently.
