Japanese Minister Kono meets PM Oli

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Visiting Japanese Foreign Minister, Taro Kono paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the Prime Minister's residence at Baluwatar. 

Kono arrived in Kathmandu yesterday leading an 18 member delegation at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Gyawali. Nepal and Japan signed two Memorandum of Understanding after the ministerial-level meeting held in the capital.

As per the agreement, both the countries have agreed to review to re-establish the direct air service between Nepal and Japan facilitating Nepal Airlines Corporation aircraft at the Osaka and Narita airports.

Likewise, both countries have agreed to establish the secretarial level mechanism to give the priority on the economic development of Nepal and Japan’s possible contribution to it, including in the area of agriculture, energy, infrastructure, tourism, and human resources development.

Similarly, both countries will make a deal in facilitating the entry of Nepali workers for employment in Japan.

The agreement was made following the meeting between the delegations of Nepal and Japan. The Nepali delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Raj Gyawali and Japanese delegation was led by visiting Foreign Minister Taro Kono. 

Kono is scheduled to visit President Bidhya Devi Bhandari as well.
