Janakpur thrashes Narayani by 107 runs

KATHMANDU, July 14: Janakpur zone on Thursday recorded 107 runs win over Narayani zone in the Central Regional Women's Selection Tournament for the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier for Asia.

Janakpur scored 162/2 in the allocated 20 overs with skipper Sobha Aale remaining not out on 79 runs off 62 balls at Narayani Ground in Birgunj. In reply, Janakpur restricted Narayani on 55 runs in 16 overs as Rachana Aryal top scored 13 runs.
 
Similarly, Bagmati zone also defeated Narayani by 96 runs in first match of the day. Bagmati posted 177/5 as Kanchan Shrestha scored 30 runs. Later, Kathmandu restricted the opponent on 81/5 despite Sita Shrestha's 28 runs contribution for Narayani.

In Mid-western Region, Banke district defeated Dang district by six wickets. Batting first, Dang put 64/2 in 12 overs after Laxmi Chaudhary contributed 37 runs at NP school Ground in Nepalgunj. The match was reduced to 12 overs due to rain. In reply, Banke completed the target in nine overs with the help of Nary Thapa Magar's 34 runs.

However, in another match, Dang recorded 84 runs win over Bardiya. Dang, opting to bat first, scored 121/4 in 12 overs after Laxmi Chaudhary cracked 53 runs off 32 balls. In reply, Bardiya managed only 37/8 as Sohani Pun top scored 13 runs.

In Western region competition, Lumbini beat Kaski in two matches to win the tournament participated by only two teams. Lumbini won first match by 10 wickets and recorded 55 runs win in second match in Pokhara.

The national level selection tournament for the qualifier will be held in August.
