KATHMANDU, June 19: An attempt to make a physical assault against the Deputy Mayor of Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City Kishori Shah was foiled on Sunday. However, a woman who had come to the municipality to hand over the memorandum was able to target her with slippers.

A group of local people had come to hand over a memorandum to Mayor Manoj Shah demanding to vacate the encroached land in Sub-metropolis-23, Belagaun. But as Mayor Shah was not available, they handed over the memorandum to Deputy Mayor Shah.

After receiving the memorandum, Deputy Mayor Shah came outside her office premises to address the group. In her address, she said that she hadn’t come to desolate anyone but to settle them down.

While addressing the group, a woman attacked Deputy Mayor Shah with slippers. The agitating locals had come to hand over a memorandum to stop the sale of 17 bighas and 15 katthas of land given to Ram Janaki Dulha Bhagwan Kuti by the local social workers and donors of Bela village.
