Two violent incidents in a week scares locals

Thirty five year Siekh Samiullah sustained injuries after unidentified group fired shots on him near the bank of Bakaiya River in Rautahat. Earlier this week, criminals-at-large had killed eight year Mufajul Dewan by slitting his throat. Following the new shooting, locals have become fearful and urged the police to investigate the incident with utmost seriousness.

Left alliance will fulfill its promises

PN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed determination that all commitments made by left alliance before the people during House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies elections would be fully implemented. 

Tamor corridor track cheers locals

Opening of the Tamor Corridor Track, the shortest route to link hills and Tarai has brought cheers among the locals. The operation of 52-kilometer corridor falls under the north-south highway project and aims to connect north (Tibet of China) to south (Jogbani of India) via Dhankuta, Panchthar, Taplejung and Tehrathum, the eastern hilly districts.

Eleven Afghan soldiers killed in latest attack in Kabul

Militants on Monday raided a military academy in Kabul, the Afghan capital, killing 11 soldiers, the fourth major attack in a spate of violence over the past nine days. It came two days after an ambulance bomb in the city center killed more than 100 people and just over a week after another attack on the Hotel Intercontinental, also in Kabul, killed more than 20.

Australia storm into U-19 World Cup final after defeating Afghanistan

Australia have cruised into their first under-19 cricket World Cup decider in six years after easily accounting for Afghanistan in the semi-finals. After dismissing their opponents for 181 in Christchurch, Australia survived Afghanistan's trio of spinners to reach the target in the 38th over with six wickets to spare.
