Four killed in Salyan bus accident

At least four people have been killed in a bus accident in Salyan on Monday afternoon. The ill-fated bus (Na 5 Kha 531) heading to Dang from Rukum, skidded some 80 meters down to the rivulets from the road.

Prohibitory order lifted temporarily in Dhankuta

After improvements in security situation of Dhankuta, the Prohibitory Order has been temporarily lifted from 3 PM today until 7 PM tomorrow. The district was under the Order since January 19.

US Embassy in Nepal shuts down temporarily after govt shutdown

Two days after the US government shutdown, the US Embassy in Nepal has tweeted that the Embassy, including its library and social media services would come to a temporary halt. However, the US Embassy will continue its consular services.  

Nepal Police issues Diffusion Notice against ex-DIG Silwal

The Nepal Police has issued a diffusion notice to Nawaraj Silwal, former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police. On January 2, the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Office had issued an arrest warrant against Silwal to investigate in a case involving document forgery.  

Quality medicines stressed for people living with HIV/AIDS

A two-day assembly of the National Association of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal (NAP +N) issued an 11-point Chitwan Declaration. The Declaration, among other issues pertaining to people living with HIV/AIDS, calls for providing quality ARV medicines and decent treatment to the people living with HIV/AIDS. 

India new missiles can reach Pakistan, Tibet air bases

The Centre has begun final negotiations to buy Russia-built S-400 Triumf air defence missile systems for Rs 39,000 crore. If the deal is inked, it will be one of the biggest arms contract with Russia.
