House sub-panel calls for toughest action against Tourism Minister, ex-ministers, NAC office bearers

A parliamentary subcommittee formed to probe the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft purchase scam has submitted its report to the Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday. The subcommittee has recommended action against three ministers including Adhikari and former ministers. The subcommittee has also concluded that the tourism secretaries including incumbent Krishna Prasad Devkota were also involved in the corruption as the chairs of the NAC board.

Rana sworn in as 29th Chief Justice of Nepal

Justice Cholendra Sumsher Rana has been sworn in as the 29th chief justice of the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Rana is the first apex court justice to be appointed chief justice without being seniormost justice. After the PHC in August rejected seniormost justice Deepak Raj Joshee for chief justice, the Constitutional Council last month recommended Rana for chief justice.

Metropolitan Police Range gears to rescue and rehabilitate children and the elderly

The Metropolitan Police Range has started an initiative to rescue those living on the street and hand them over to their respective families.  On its first day, the Police Range rescued seven people from Kalimati, Swayambhu, and Sitapaila area. The Police Division said that they'd step up this effort to keep Kathmandu's streets managed, safer and bring change among people who make a living on the streets of Kathmandu.

Joshee won’t be assigned benches from now onward, says CJ Rana

Newly appointed Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has said that Justice Deepak Raj Joshee will not be assigned benches to hear cases from now onward. This decision has come at a time when Joshee said he could continue going to the Supreme Court.

Somalia declares UN envoy persona non grata

Somalia’s government has ordered the United Nations envoy to the country to leave, amid questions over the arrest of the al-Shabab extremist group’s former deputy leader who had run for a regional presidency. A foreign ministry statement accuses Nicholas Haysom of diplomatic overreach that violated the Horn of Africa nation’s sovereignty, declaring him “persona non grata.” Haysom had questioned the legal basis used in the arrest last month of Mukhtar Robow, a former al-Shabab spokesman who defected from the group in 2017, and whether U.N.-funded regional police in the Southwest were involved.

Chelsea sign Liverpool & Man Utd target Christian Pulisic In £57.6m deal

Chelsea have agreed a £57.6m deal with Borussia Dortmund to sign Liverpool and Manchester United target Christian Pulisic with the attacker being loaned back to the German club for the rest of the season.
