KATHMANDU, May 9: The Boudha Trade Association and the local residents of Boudha have obstructed the Chabahil-Sankhu road section, in protest against the delay in the blacktopping of the under-construction road.
A large number of locals and traders took to the street since 8:00 in the morning today, in a symbolic protest program. As a result, the area has been pushed into chaos. The locals have demanded that the road section be blacktopped immediately and rid the area of dust pollution.

“Hundreds of traders have been displaced while investment worth missions have been jeopardized as a result of the dilapidated condition of the road since the past four years,” local traders and Bouddha trade association chair Dipak Chaulagain said. We will be forced to resort to severe forms of protest if our demands are not addressed soon, said another trader Laxman Dulal.
Expansion work of the 11.46-kilometer road began in October 2015 but the contractors have been delaying the work under various pretext. Almost four years later, the road still remains incomplete.
