Ira Rawat into women’s semis

KATHMANDU, May 2: Ira Rawat has advanced into the women’s semifinals of the ongoing 
sixth Citizens Bank Open Tennis Tournament on Tuesday.  

Continuing the game which was stopped due to rain on Monday, Rawat beat Ane Mathema 7-5, 6-4. Before the game was stopped, the score was 7-5, 2-4 in favor of Rawat. 

Rawat will now take on Abhilasha Bista in the semifinals, while the other last-four match will see Prerana Koirala take on Ganga Sharma. 

In mixed doubles category, the pair of Shree Ram Magar and Rawat saw off Chhewang Lama and Sharma 6-1, 6-2, while Pranab Khanal and Mahika Rana overcame Bista and Anil Shahi’s pair 6-1, 3-6, 10-2 to reach the final. 

Likewise, in men’s doubles, the pair comprising of Jitendra Pariyar and Santosh Khatri thrashed Ishwor GC and Deep Rana 6-1, 6-0, Niresh Shrestha and Anil Kuikel beat Kul Bahadur Rau and Prakash Chand 6-2, 6-7, 10-4, Prakash Kayastha and Nabin Magar got past Shyam GC and Anjan Thing 6-3, 6-4, Anil Shahi and Pradeep Khadka defeated Shyam Sundar GC and Ram Roka 6-2, 6-2. 

All the winning pairs reached the last-four of the tournament.
