KATHMANDU, Oct 3: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) last week decreased 42.56 points (1.62 percent) after the secondary market witnessed selling pressure with the upcoming festivals that are round the corner.
The secondary market opened for trading at 2,629.81 points and closed at 2,587.25 points. This is the fourth consecutive week that the stock exchange market declined. During the period, the market rose as high as 2,638.28 points and fell as low as 2,582.36 points, marking the volatility of 55.92 points.

During the review period, the market index inched up 0.26 points only on Thursday. In the remaining four days, the market index went down hitting the highest decline of 16.47 points (0.62 percent) on Monday.
Sector-wise, all the 13 groups had their indices decline as life insurance plunged the largest of 232.76 points. Percentage wise, the hotels and tourism index fell as high as 2.71 percent.
Among the individual companies, share price of Sindhu Bikas Bank gained 7.20 percent. Apollo Hydropower Limited lost the most by 11.80 percent.
The average daily turnover decreased to Rs 4.798 billion from Rs 6.285 billion, marking a slump of 23.65 percent. Market capitalization fell to Rs 4.450 trillion from Rs 4.523 trillion, making the investors face a loss in their book value by Rs 73 billion. In the previous week, the investors had lost Rs 29.9 billion.
