KATHMANDU, Dec 10: KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Anup Raj Sharma has expressed concern over prevailing culture of impunity in the country.
Sharma made the remarks during a program organized by the NHRC to mark the 71st International Human Right Day in Kathmandu.
He said that culture of impunity has continued even after the country promulgated a democratic constitution.
Sharma criticized the government for not holding consultation with the NHRC before drafting the Media Council Bill and National Human Rights Commission Bill.
"Human rights defenders are ready to go for a struggle in the coming days," he said. A rally was organized in the capital today morning to mark the International Human Rights Day. The day is observed world-wide on December 10 every year.
