Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale said that international flights will start operation from Gautam Buddha International Airport from April 14.
Minister Ale, who reached Lumbini to inspect the Airport on Saturday, said that it would be easier for the locals as soon as international flights start operating from the airport. “We are preparing to start direct international flights from the Gautam Buddha International Airport, which will make it easier for the locals,” he said.

Stating that discussions are underway with India for a direct route to the airport, Ale said that the Indian counterpart is also very positive about the initiative to introduce a direct flight route. Minister Ale also mentioned that the Gautam Buddha International Airport is now the second-largest airport in the country and that it will help to reduce air traffic in Kathmandu once it comes to operation.
