International Day of World's Indigenous Peoples to be observed

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The 22nd International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is to be celebrated in Nepal by organizing various programs. 

Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has decided to organize various program under the theme of 'indigenous nationalities' stance for federalism with identity and rights, collective campaign for amendments to the constitution'.

NEFIN Federal Council Secretariat informed this at a press meet here Tuesday. 
On the occasion, 22nd world indigenous day main celebrations committee- 2073 coordinator Nagendra Kumar Kumal demanded the enforcement of agreements made in favor of the rights of indigenous peoples, seeking the guarantee of proportional representation in every state apparatus.

Discussion and interaction program and rallies will be the part of the celebrations to be held from August 4 to 13.

At the call of the United Nations, the Day is observed on August 9 every year. RSS
