KATHMANDU, July 20: IDP International Education Specialists, an education consultancy based in Australia, has announced to provide scholarships worth AUS $ 50,000 to Nepali students.

Speaking at a seminar organized in the capital on Thursday, Chief Executive Officer of the IDP, Andrew Barkla made the announcement to provide the scholarship to 10 deserving Nepali students. He said that IDP would provide monetary support to Nepal-based non-governmental organizations so that they could avail the scholarships to underprivileged students from the rural areas.

Separately, the IDP also announced to launch its first student placement service office in Nepal from August 1. IDP partners with colleges and universities across the UK, the USA, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand and has over 800 counselors in over 33 countries. It is also the co-owner of IELTS and has been providing English language test services. It aims at providing assistance to students seeking further education abroad through counseling sessions which help students to find perfect college for each individual and provide support to students to prepare for college application and visa process.

Regional Director, South Asia – IDP Education, Piyush Karki described the counseling service as “the best in class”. He said that since it is the only company owned by Australian Universities it is “in the best position to match requirements of individual students”.

According to Karki, the consultancy not only helps students reach the college of their choice but also supports them once they get in by helping them look for accommodations, provide information regarding acquiring insurance, offer internship opportunities, help with getting their bank account and the like.
