RATNANAGAR (Chitwan), Feb 2: An inmate serving a term at the District Prison, Bharatpur has died today.
The inmate identified as 23-year-old Badal Shahi of Chhatre Arukharka-4 in Nuwakot district had been suffering from brain tumour. He breathed his last at around 6 this morning, the Chief of the District Prison, Kamal Kafle, said.
Shahi was transferred to Chitwan on December 13, 2016 for treatment of barin tumour at the local cancer hospital. He was sentenced to jail on various cases related to robbery and other crimes.
Jailor Kafle said none of Shahi's relatives and family members have come in contact although they were informed of his death. There are seven inmates suffering from cancer at the District Prison who are undergoing treatment.
The Bharatpur Prison is overwhelmed with inmates as it has to accommodate 590 of them, nearly three times more than its capacity. RSS
