The office has stated that over Rs 600 million in dues remain to be collected from the defaulters. “Despite repeated verbal and written requests, these taxpayers continued to delay payments, prompting us to take legal steps,” said Officer Subedi. He said that some taxpayers have started coming forward to pay after the initiation of legal action.

In the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, the office collected Rs 4.87 billion in revenue, which is 82.32 percent of its target of Rs 6.04 billion.

Subedi informed that the annual revenue target for the fiscal year is Rs 8.44 billion. Currently, the office has 34,229 income tax payers, 5,953 VAT payers, 1,611 excise duty payers, 713 withholding taxpayers, and 84,429 individual taxpayers.

He attributed the increase in revenue collection compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year to factors such as increased economic activities, ease in bank loan disbursement, tax policy reforms, regular market monitoring, taxpayer education programs, and stricter enforcement of pending dues.
