Information Minister instructs for capacity building

KATHMANDU, April 24: Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki has instructed the subordinate bodies under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) to pitch for capacity-building by increasing coordination among the concerned bodies. 

At the current fiscal year's second quarterly meeting of the Development Problem Resolution Committee under the MoIC here today, Minister Karki asked them to strengthen the implementation capacity of the Ministry. 

Pressing for timely completion and implementation of the Ministry's plans and programmes for the current fiscal year, Karki underscored the need for the MoIC to be result-oriented. 
The Minister stressed on result-oriented work style and radical thinking for introducing a change in the country. 

Expressing his concern towards the heaps of arrears left to be cleared by the Ministry, he told the Ministry's officials to pay attention to the issue to addressing the issue. 

Similarly, addressing the meeting, Secretary at the MoIC Mahendra Man Gurung spoke of the need to carry out the Ministry's works at a fast pace to achieve the target of implementation. 
Present in the meeting were the representatives from various eight bodies under the MoIC, including Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), who presented their respective progress reports and pledged to implement all their action-plans for the current fiscal year. 

On the occasion, the Ministry shared that efforts were underway to provide internet services through Nepal Telecom to community colleges, community schools and primary health care centres. 
RSS's Chairperson Kul Chandra Wagle drew the attention of the authority concerned towards the reconstruction of the quake-damaged structure in the only news agency in the country, RSS.
