Inflation rose 5.32 percent during mid-October and mid-November

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Consumer price inflation surged to 5.32 percent during the one month period from mid-October to mid-November this year compared to 4.05 percent during the same period last year.

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Consumer price inflation surged to 5.32 percent during the one month period from mid-October to mid-November this year compared to 4.05 percent during the same period last year.


The four months’ report on ‘Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation of Nepal’ released by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Wednesday, shows that the consumers’ daily expenses during the period went up by 1.08 point percent. The inflation figure in the third month this year was 4.24 percent.

According to the NRB report, the inflation took a leap due to the escalating prices of ghee and oil, transport service and meat products. In the review period, the price of ghee and oil rose 29.11 percent, transport fares went up 12.36 percent and those of meat products increased by 10.91 percent.


Inflation in the hilly region was recorded at 7.14 percent, the largest of all. Likewise, average market price escalated by 6.14 percent in the Kathmandu Valley, five percent in Himalayan region and 3.95 percent in Terai.
