KATHMANDU, June 1: A woman attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison along with her two sons. While the woman and one of her sons survived, her 18-month infant died during treatment.
According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, Soni Pakhrin, 36, consumed poison along with her seven-year-old son Askin and 18-month-old son Jenish in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City on Wednesday evening.
Police said they consumed paraquat dichloride, a poisonous pesticide.
Pakhrin and her two sons, who consumed the pesticide, were taken to Hetauda Hospital for treatment on Wednesday. The hospital then referred them to Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur.
SP Bamdev Gautam of District Police Office Makwanpur said Jenish, who was in serious condition, died at Chitwan Medical College at 7.50 am on Thursday. Police are investigating the incident.
