Industries face problems in exports due to COVID-19

KATHMANDU, August 10: The ready-made garment (RMG) industry is facing difficulties in exporting its products due to the spread of the COVID-19 infection. According to Pulse Fashion Solutions Pvt Ltd, the company’s production has been declining since the start of the first lockdown. 

The garment company is facing difficulties in importing raw materials due to the pandemic, according to Nimesh Pradhan, managing director of the company’s export division. 

The Asian Biscuits and Confectionery Pvt Ltd is also suffering from the loss of sales as schools and colleges have remained shut due to the pandemic. The RMG industry has not been able to resume operation due to the low demand of products.

Most of the industries in Sunsari are facing difficulties in production due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The industries are in no position to take risks and increase their production due to the continuously enforced lockdowns and the increasing risk of the third wave of COVID-19.
