Indian security shot dead Nepali

MORANG, May 26: A Nepali national Basudev Saha, 55, of South bordering Amahibariyati VDC of Morang died in a shootout by Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB).



The SSB personnel, who entered Nepal with weapons without permission in motorbike at around 9 PM Tuesday, had opened fire at the home of Saha in Amahibariyati-7.[break]



Seriously injured Saha died on the way to Koshi zonal hospital, Biratnagar in the same night, according to Area Police Office, Rangeli.



Saha had had simple discussion with SSB personnel while he was bringing oil from Indian bordering bazaar Kuwadi in afternoon. Following this, the SSB personnel had threatened Nepali Police in Khayarbona Police Post.



Immediately after this, they entered the area some 200 metres inside from Nepal-India border point Das Gaja on Tuesday night and shot at Saha the same day, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Armed Police Customs Revenue Patrol Bhola Giri.



The shooters absconded after opening fire at Saha while the motorbike (BR 38 B 0036) they rode has been under the control of local Khayarbona Police Post.



Locals chanted slogans against Indian Police after the incident.



Investigation is being carried out on the incident, said Superintendent of Police (SP) of District police Office, Morang Deepak Thapa.
