Indian President Mukherjee to worship at Pashupati Temple tomorrow

KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to offer worship at Pashupatinath Temple on tomorrow morning. 

During the homage that will take place at 9:45 am, Indian President Mukherjee will conduct a special pooja while lighting lakh batti (100,000 wicks) and sprinkling Panchamrita (a sacred mixture of five ingredients including milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee), said Dr Gobinda Tandon, member secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT). 

President Mukherjee is slated to be welcomed by 108 Batuk (Hindu boys) by chanting Swasti mantras after entering the main eastern gate of Pashupatinath Temple, said Tandon. 

General people are allowed the access to welcome President Mukherjee while Thime baja and Panchai baja (traditional musical instruments) will be played, said the PADT. 

Meanwhile, keeping in view the scheduled worship program of President Mukherjee, security has been tightened at the area while preparations were completed for the same, said the PADT. 

Indian President Mukherjee is also scheduled to sign the attendance register after the worship.

Thereafter, he will be presented with a present as a token of love by the PADF. RSS
