KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is arriving for a three-day state visit to Nepal at the invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari this afternoon. 

The government has announced a public holiday in honour of the visiting Indian President. The visit by an Indian President is taking place after 18 years in Nepal. The last Indian President to visit Nepal was KR Narayanan on Jestha, 14 2055 BS. 

President Bhandari will receive her Indian counterpart at the VVIP lounge at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 12:30 pm. All necessary security preparations have been made for the state visit. 

Indian President Mukherjee will hold a meeting with President Bhandari today at Shital Niwas. President Bhandari will also host a state banquet this evening in honour of Indian President Mukherjee. RSS
