Indian Embassy launches photography competition

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has launched a photography competition for the developmental projects completed with the support of the government of India. 

Participants can enter into the competition by submitting their entries in any of the following eight categories such as schools and colleges, hospitals and other health institutions, airports, religious and cultural sites, major roads, bridges and highways, river protection or training works, departments and offices and irrigation, drinking water projects and rural electrification work. There are three cash prizes in each category.

Gyanveer Singh, second secretary in the development partnership wing of the Indian embassy,  said ,“since the days of Indian Aid Mission in 1954, the government of India has extended technical and financial support in construction of airports, bridges, highways, irrigation facilities, hospitals, universities etc. fulfilling the needs and bridging the gaps in physical and social infrastructure of Nepal. We felt that a photography competition would be a unique way to highlight our support to Nepal.” 

He added that anyone with a camera phone can participate in the competition by clicking a photograph of a project near their home and submit it to the Indian Embassy at dpwing.kathmandu@mea.gov.in and win handsome prizes in each category.
