Indian company submits survey permit application to IBN for West Seti Hydroelectric Project

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Indian company NHPC submitted an application to the Investment Board Nepal (IBN) on Tuesday for a survey permit for the West Seti Hydroelectric Project. The officials of the company submitted the application to Sushil Bhatta, chief executive officer of the IBN on Tuesday.

Earlier, according to the agreement between the Indian company and IBN, it was stipulated that the Indian company should apply for the survey permit of the West Seti Hydroelectric Project within 45 days from the date of signing the agreement.

According to the same provision, NHPC submitted the application to the IBN on Tuesday. In a tweet from the official Twitter handle of NHPC Limited, it is said that an application for a survey permit has been submitted to the IBN for the West Seti Hydroelectric Project. 

NHPC has submitted the application for the survey license of the West Seti Hydroelectric Project to the IBN ahead of the specified date. A memorandum of understanding was signed between IBN and NHPC for the detailed project study survey permit for the 750 MW West Seti and 450 MW Seti River 6 Hydropower projects during an event held in the capital on August 18.

Similarly, NHPC should conduct a detailed project study and submit the study report to the office of IBN within two years after receiving the survey permission for both hydropower projects.

In the presence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, IBN CEO Sushil Bhatta and NHPC Company CMD AK Singh signed the MoU on Thursday. The 52nd meeting of the IBN held on August 8 under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Deuba decided to award the 750 MW West Seti Hydroelectric Project and the 450 MW Seti River 6 Hydroelectric Project to the Indian company NHPC for study.
