JANAKPUR, Nov 4: President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, who is on a three-day state visit to Nepal, attended a civic reception by the Janakpur residents.
The Indian President performed special pooja at the Janaki temple.
On that occasion, Punya Prasad Luitel, Executive Director of sub-metropolis felicitated President Mukherjee on behalf of Janakpur residents.
The felicitation letter which is written in three languages - Nepali, Maithili and English – mentions the ties between Nepal’s Janakpur and Mithila and India’s Ayodhya city and the marriage between Lord Ram and Goddess Sita and the age-old ties between Nepal and India.
Prior to this, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi had welcomed President Mukherjee at the Janaki Temple.
Mukherjee landed at the Janakpur Airport at 11:37 am and left for Pokhara at 13:27 pm.
Along with Deputy Prime Minister Nidhi, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Jeeban Bahadur Shahi and regional administrator, Binod KC were also present to welcome President Mukherjee in Janakpur.
Addressing the civic felicitation program at Tirhutiya Gachhi, Janakpur, Mukherjee announced the construction of two inns for pilgrims and a ring road in Janakpur.
In his 13 minutes long speech, he said, “I am delighted to announce the construction of two inns and a ring road by the Government of India in Janakpur.”
He assured that the Indian government would provide continuous support for roads, electricity, industrial sector and other development works in this region.
