India, Sri Lanka bag Ram Bahadur Best Film Award

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: The eleventh edition of Film Southasia took place from November 2 to 5 at Yalamaya Centre of Patan, Lalitpur. Two films jointly won the ‘Ram Bahadur Best Film Award’ during the biannual event.

The Indian film ‘Soz: A Ballad of Maladies’, directed by Tushar Madhav and Sarvanik Kaur, along with Sri Lankan film ‘Demons in Paradise’, directed by Jud Ratnam, collectively won the award during the event’s concluding ceremony on Sunday. 

Both the parties were awarded $2,000. Similarly, another Indian film ‘Shepherd of Glaciers’ was declared the first runner up with $1,000. Another Indian film ‘Rasan Piya’ won $1,000 as the ‘Tarik Masood Best Debut Film Award’. 

Similarly, sponsored by the UNICEF, ‘Best Film on Children or Social Issue’ award with $1,000 was granted to another Indian film ‘Fireflies in the Abyss’. Meanwhile, ‘32 soles’, a Myanmar film directed by Sain Kham, won $500 for ‘The Best Students’ Film Award’.
