In the meeting held at Hotel Dwarika´s at 2 p.m., the Indian Minister said that every type of support would be provided on behalf the Government of India for institutionalizing Loktantra in Nepal.[break]
Stating that India has goodwill for peace and prosperity of Nepal, the Indian Minister for External Affairs Khurshid expressed the belief that Nepal would move forward in a new political direction through the election to the Constituent Assembly, according to UCPN (Maoist) Foreign Department Chief, Ram Karki.
Khurshid expressed his happiness that the CPN-Maoist which was opposed to the election process has also shown flexibility for seeking solution to problems through dialogue and negotiations. He added that India was hopeful that all the political parties in Nepal would participate in the election, Karki said.
Mentioning that the Indian government was ready to provide assistance as per Nepal´s priorities, Khurshid stressed that Nepal´s stability, peace and prosperity were the major issues.
UCPN (Maoist) Foreign Department Chief Karki stated that they expressed the belief that Nepal-India relations would move ahead in a new way in the coming days since he [Khurshid] was a person who understands the feelings of Nepal and the Nepalis well.
Present in the meeting were UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, vice-chairmen Dr. Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha, organization department chief Krishna Bahadur Mahara and party leaders Barshaman Pun, Karki and Hisila Yami.
Chairman Dahal´s visit to India couple of months back also figured during the talks in the meeting that lasted for about half an hour, Karki said.
