Independent Youth Group demands justice for journo Pudasaini

CHITWAN, Aug 17: A youth alliance named ‘Independent Youth Group’ has staged protest in Chitwan on Saturday demanding justice for deceased journalist Salikram Pudasaini. 


The alliance demonstrated urging the administration not to be influenced during the investigation process following Friday’s demonstration by the supporters of Rabi Lamichhane.

The participants of the demonstration carried placards demanding fair investigation, justice to Pudasaini, punishment to the guilty, avoiding interference of NGOs and not to politicize the crime.  

 

Earlier on Friday, when police tried to control the mob attended in support of Rabi Lamichhane following his arrest on Thursday, a clash between the police and supporters erupted. In the incident, seven policemen including an Assistant Sub Inspector sustained injuries. 

 

Chitwan District Court on Friday okayed police to keep Rabi Lamichhane, Yuvraj Kandel and Asmita Karki in custody for five days


They had been arrested from Kathmandu on Thursday in connection with the 'suicide' of journalist Salikram Pudasaini.
