Indefinite curfew lifted in Kalikot

KALIKOT, Dec 25: Chief District of Office Kalikot has lifted the curfew imposed since Saturday. 

Chief District Officer (CDO) Badrinath Gaire informed that the curfew had been lifted after a probe panel from the Ministry of Home Affairs arrived in the district to investigate into the incident. Protest erupted after Bibek Aidi, 20, of Raskot rural municipality-2, a temporary police was shot dead on the head by police on Friday. More than two dozen people were reportedly injured in the clash.

Following the tense situation in the district headquarter Manma, local administration of Kalikot had imposed indefinite curfew in the district.

Apart from Rs. 1 million compensation, assured by the Home Ministry to the victim's family, another Rs 1.5 million insurance will be provided.
