KATHMANDU, March 26: After Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) opened Ranipokhari to the public, a huge number of people are seen thronging around the area. People visit Ranipokhari for worship as well as for morning exercise as it is one of the open places in Kathmandu Valley with good ambience.
The KMC has opened it to the public for free. The entry time has been set from 6 am to 8 am every day.
Following damage by the 2015 earthquake, the pond was reconstructed after then President Bidya Devi Bhandari laid the foundation stone for the project the same year. The reconstruction was completed on October 21, 2020, after five years, and was later handed over to the KMC on December 23, 2021 by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA).
