In Pictures: Hari Budha Magar, who climbed Mt Everest with prosthetic legs, receives warm welcome at TIA

KATHMANDU, May 23: A huge crowd gathered at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Tuesday, to felicitate former British Gurkha soldier Hari Budha Magar, who successfully climbed Mount Everest with the help of prosthetic legs.

KATHMANDU, May 23: A huge crowd gathered at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu on Tuesday, to felicitate former British Gurkha soldier Hari Budha Magar, who successfully climbed Mount Everest with the help of prosthetic legs.


Budha Magar made it to the top of Mount Everest at 3 pm in the afternoon on May 19 in the ongoing climbing of the spring season. Along with this, Budha Magar has set the world record of being the first 'double amputee above the knee' person to reach the peak.

Magar, a former soldier in the British Gurkha regiment, lost his legs when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan in 2010.
