KATHMANDU, August 15: Devotees visited the Pashupatinath Temple today on the occasion of the last Monday of the Nepali month of Shrawan for this year.
Shrawan is one of the holiest months in the Hindu calendar. Devotees of Shiva perform religious rituals and take bratas (fasting). Each Monday of the month, known as Shrawan Sombar, is a special day and devotees visit Shiva temples on this day. Hindu devotees walk barefoot and with holy water to offer to Lord Shiva.
Similarly, On this day, married women fast for the longevity of their husbands whereas unmarried girls also fast wishing for the attainment of good spouses.
