KATHMANDU, Sept 19: A group of activists led by Ishan, popularly known as Iih, initiated a movement calling for improved management of street vendors in the city.
The group led by activist Shrestha declared a 77-hour-long protest in front of the KMC Mayor Balen Shah's office, adjacent to the National Assembly Hall, commencing at 1 PM on Tuesday. The protest is slated to continue until 6 PM on Friday. The activists anticipate additional support from others during this demonstration.

Shrestha stressed the necessity of this protest, citing Mayor Balen's implementation of stringent policies without providing the promised alternative arrangements for street vendors, a commitment made during the election campaign.
Protestors prominently displayed placards bearing messages such as 'A city for cars or a city for people? Justice for Street Vendors' and 'End the exploitation of cycle, cart, traditional, and street vendors; offer viable alternatives.'
