Pashupatinath temple wears a deserted look even during Teej festival (with photos and video)

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Teej festival is being observed across the country today. Hindu women visit nearby temples and shrines of Lord Shiva to offer prayers for the well-being, happiness and longevity of their spouses this day.

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Teej festival is being observed across the country today. Hindu women visit nearby temples and shrines of Lord Shiva to offer prayers for the well-being, happiness and longevity of their spouses this day. 


In Kathmandu, thousands of women would throng to Pashupatinath Temple to offer prayers on this day. Security personnel and volunteers would find it difficult to manage the crowd as most Hindu women living in Kathmandu Valley would want to visit this revered temple of Lord Shiva.

But this year, Pashupatinath Temple, which is one of the four most important religious sites for devotees of Lord Shiva, wears a deserted look as the government authorities have restricted people from visiting the temple to contain the spread of COVID-19. The directive of the government comes in the wake of Kathmandu Valley witnessing a sharp rise in the cases of COVID-19.
