IN PICS: Heavy snowfall in Manang and Mustang

POKHARA, Jan 5: Mountainous districts Manang and Mustang witnessed heavy snowfall in the past few days. Life in these two districts has been hit hard following heavy snowfall.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted rains and snowfall in many places across the country till Wednesday.

Temperature is continuously dipping to minus in the mountain region. Lomangthang, a rural municipality in Mustang, recorded the temperature of minus 16 degree Celsius on Monday.

According to Lekhnath Gautam, a conversation officer of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), regions above 3000 meters from sea level are witnessing heavy snowfall from Monday evening. “Some places have received up to one feet of snow,” he said.

Temperature dips to minus 15 degree Celsius at night and minus one degree Celsius at day in upper Manang and Mustang, according to Gautam.

However, Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang, is yet to receive snowfall this year.
