KATHMANDU, August 23: The Impeachment Recommendation Committee is to convene yet again on Wednesday.

The parliamentarians in Tuesday’s meeting of the Committee viewed that if the report prepared by the Committee formed ahead of the election does not get entertained in the parliament, it would be insignificant.

In the meeting held at Singha Durbar, Chairman of Committee Ram Bahadur Bista expressed his concern on whether the Committee's report would be presented in the committee for a decision.

The Committee, formed merely three months before the election, ought to deliver within this period. The provincial assembly and House of Representatives election are scheduled to be held on November 20 later this year.

Parliamentarian Bista questioned, "The nomination of candidates for election is on September 18. Will the report we prepare be presented in parliament by then? What's the point of preparing the report if it does not go through the parliamentary process?"

Krishna Bhakta Pokahrel, Chairperson of the parliamentary Law, Justice and Human Right Committee, said that the Committee's report should be relevant. Otherwise it would be meaningless.

Parliamentarians Yasodha Gurung Subedi, Min Bahadur Bishwakarma and Iqbal Miya said since six months had already elapsed the Committee should move ahead with a time-table to accomplish all the works within a month.

Wednesday's meeting will discuss the draft of the procedure and decide how to move ahead, said Committee's Chairman Bista. Tuesday’s meeting was postponed without entering the agenda.
