KATHMANDU, Jan 9: The impeachment motion filed against CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki in parliament is likely to go into hibernation.

The House forwarded the motion to the Impeachment Recommendation Committee of the parliament just ahead of the Supreme Court's Sunday's ruling that Karki was not eligible for heading the CIAA.

"The Supreme Court has clearly stated that it is annulling the appointment of Karki from the very first day, therefore the allegations made in the impeachment motion are no longer relevant," said a senior leader.

According to leaders, the speaker may announce to dump the impeachment motion, citing the court's verdict. After holding up the impeachment motion for over two months, the House had forwarded the motion to the Impeachment Recommendation Committee for further investigations only on Sunday.
