KATHMANDU, April 12: The newly appointed Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police Sarbendra Khanal and Inspector General of Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal has been conferred insignia amid a special function organized at Ministry of Home Affairs.
Prem Kumar Rai, Secretary for Ministry of Home Affairs conferred insignia to the both Khanal on Thursday morning.
The Cabinet meeting called by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appointed Sarbendra and Shailendra as IG of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force respectively on Tuesday.
Along with IGP Prakash Aryal, all AIGs of Nepal Police and IGP Singha Bahadur Shrestha of Armed Police Force will step down from the post following the completion of 30-year service period from Wednesday.
Sarbendra Khanal will lead the 72,733-strong police force responsible for maintaining law and order, for the next 21 months. Shailendra Khanal will lead the 37,000 paramilitary Armed Police Force.
