BHIMDUTTANAGAR, June 27: A bomb disposal squad of Nepal Army defused improvised explosive devices planted at different two locations in Kanchanpur district on the eve of the second phase of local level elections this morning.

The IEDs were planted near the Town Market of Punarbas Municipality-6 and at Banhara of Krishnapur Municipality-2 along the East West Highway, the District Police Office, Kanchanpur said.

Though no party or group has yet owned up the responsibility of planting the IEDs, the hand of the Communist Party of Nepal, which is reported to be indulging in anti-election activities, is suspected and its motive is believed to be terrorizing people on the election eve.

Following the incident, the security mechanism here has increased surveillance on CPN cadres. RSS
