It is suspected that the underground outfit might have carried out the bomb explosion with the intention of extortion by spreading terror. However, Pawan Singh, the Tharuhat on-charge of the party, refutes this.
Singh said his party has exploded the bomb as a warning to the customs office as it collected unnecessary customs charges and harassed when Nepali farmers living near the Nepal-India border took their agricultural produce for sale across the border to Indian markets.
Police have been mobilized in the area immediately after the explosion and a search is underway for the people involved in the incident, according to the District Police Office, Bardiya.
