Identity Card to Artists

Kathmandu: Nepal Academy of Music and Drama (NAMUDA) organized a press meet on Sunday at its premises, Bhatbhateni. The event aimed to inform about the distribution of Identity cards to various artists related to music and drama to honor their contribution.
It was informed that the ID cards will be distributed soon under the proposal of 2073 BS about the distribution of identity cards to artists, approved by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

According to the proposal, the ID cards will be distributed in three different categories--Renowned Class, Senior Class and General Class. Those who are applying for Renowned Class Card should have involvement in musical field for 30 years and should have released more than 200 songs. Meanwhile, they should also have received awards and accolades from the government side as well as 10 times from private sector along with experience as judge in five competitions, among others. Likewise, the criteria for applying for Senior Class card for musician artists should be involved in various aspects of music for 15 years and should have released more than 150 songs.

They should have received awards from the government side and from private sector for five times along with having experience as judge in three competitions. And the General Class Card requires the experience of five years in their field and releasing the 25 songs. Addressing the press meet, Vice Chancellor of NAMUDA Sambhujeet Baskota praised the artists’ contribution in Nepali creative field and said NAMUDA is planning to distribute the card for the betterment of Nepali artists.

Meanwhile, talking about the importance of the identity cards, lyricist Ratna Samsher Thapa said it was a great achievement for the artists to be recognized through national identity card as an artist.
