I will contest elections from Chitwan, not elsewhere: Dahal

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has announced that he will contest the November 20 elections from Chitwan.

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has announced that he will contest the November 20 elections from Chitwan.


Speaking at a press conference in Pokhara on Friday, Dahal said that he would not contest elections from anywhere else except from Chitwan. "In the past, I contested from Kathmandu, Rolpa, Simra and other places as I am a national-level leader of the country. However, I will now fight the upcoming elections from Chitwan,'' he said. "I have faith in the people and feelings of Chitwan.”

Similarly, Dahal claimed that his victory was assured because of the alliance. He made it clear that he will not leave Chitwan as the message will be bad if he leaves Chitwan and goes elsewhere.


Regarding the alliance, Chairman Dahal said that the understanding and consensus is close. He claimed to settle the issue of alliance today. He insisted that the issue of seat distribution will be resolved stating that no complicated problem has arisen between the coalition parties.


"Alliance is necessary to protect the constitution, democracy and nationalism," he said. "We will settle the issue of alliance today."
