KATHMANDU, July 21: Former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma, who went to Singhdarbar to record his statement to the parliamentary probe committee, claimed that he is not aware of the CCTV footage.

Sharma claimed that  it is not possible for any outsiders to enter the ministry since there is alway strong presence of security personnel and other officials. He said unauthorized people entering premises can be easily recognized. "A minister does not know how long the CCTV footage will last and what happens with it," he said.

The committee had summoned Sharma to investigate his involvement of ‘unauthorized persons’ in the budget preparation. An 11-member parliamentary special investigation committee was formed after Sharma was accused of manipulating tax rates by calling unauthorized persons at the finance ministry in the middle of the night while preparing the 2022/23 budget.

Sharma resigned as Finance Minister when the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee was formed amid strong protest of the main opposition party, CPN-UML.
