KATHMANDU, June 18: Taragaon Regency Hotels Ltd on Monday said that it has shut operations of Hyatt Regency Kathmandu – a five-star hotel – until further notice.
In a notice sent to Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), Taragaon Regency Hotels Ltd said protest by staffers forced it to shut operations for the time being.
The hotel has also stopped taking reservation, according to the company.
“Workers close to All Nepal Hotel, Casino and Restaurant Workers Association are asking all staffers to participate in its protest program. Normal operations of the hotel have been affected due to the protest since June 13,” the company added in the statement. “As we cannot fulfill the needs of the guests due to the protest, we were compelled to shut operations,” it added.
