KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Students of Chitwan Medical College (CMC) have been staging a demonstration accusing the college of charging students more fee than the amount fixed by Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine.

Police had arrested 16 agitating students from Bharatpur Medical College including Prakash Chand, son of underground Communist Party Nepal chief Netra Bikram Chand, on the charge of vandalizing hospital infrastructures and halting the hospital. However, they were released on Wednesday night.

Nasim Akhtar, an agitating medical student said that they are planning to launch massive protest in front of Chitwan Medical College. He blamed the college administration for turning deaf ears to their genuine demands.

The college administration in a statement on Wednesday accused the protesters of trying to obstruct the service of the hospital on the pretext of students protest.
