How to recover after a giant meal

How to recover after a giant meal

Most of us have numerous invites for an elaborate feast a day before Teej, considered as the Dar eating day.

Women feast on ample proteins and sweets as Dar to get ready for water-less fast the next day. However, a heavy meal in one sitting can make you feel uncomfortable. So, here are some tips on letting that uncomfortable feeling go away:

Go for a walk
This can aid digestion and possibly help decrease the fat your body stores. One study showed that when subjects took a light walk after a high-fat meal, they decreased their post-meal triglyceride concentration (the type of fat your body stores to use for energy) by around 70 percent compared to the non-walking group.

Get leftovers out of sight
Whether you encourage guests to take leftovers with them, or stick them in containers to store in your freezer, moving extra food out of sight and out of mind will help you return to your normal healthy eating routine over the next few days.

Drink tea with ginger, lemon and cayenne pepper
All of these ingredients—peppermint, ginger, lemon, and cayenne—are great for digestion and overall health. Ginger acts as a natural antibacterial and will help to soothe any uneasy feelings in your stomach. Lemon is extremely helpful in getting rid of bloating and gas, while cayenne pepper helps to speed up the metabolism.

Also, make sure you drink some water at least 20 minutes after eating, as you don’t want to dilute any digestive enzymes.

Stop eating and start chewing
Your body will have a great deal of difficulty digesting if you don’t stop eating because it will have the joint job of digesting the heavy food you’ve just eaten and the food you are continuing to eat.

So chew something else instead, like sugar-free gum or an even better option, fennel seeds, which are great for digestion and keep your mouth feeling clean.
