The bills had been presented before the parliament by the then government headed by former Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli. The bills remained on hold after the coalition partner CPN (Maoist Centre) withdrew support from the government.

Finance Minister Mahara said the government was laying emphasis on economic prosperity, imposing higher tax on luxurious items and modifying the tax rate to suit the changing times.

The government is giving top priority over controlling tax leakage and reforming the taxation system, he added.

The next meeting of parliament is scheduled to start at 1 pm on coming Sunday. RSS
