From the day after Dashain, domestic tourists from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Biratnagar, Rupandehi and other districts of the country are flocking to Mustang. Chief of the District Traffic Police Office, Indra Bahadur Nepali, said that the number of domestic tourists visiting Mustang in private vehicles and motorcycles has skyrocketed.

He said that more than 500 vehicles have been plying on the Beni-Jomsom road daily for the past two days. Earlier, 100 to 150 vehicles used to move daily. Hotelier Amritman Sherchan of Annapurna Rural Municipality-2 Bhurung-Tatopani said that students, traders, employees and other professionals have come to Mustang due to the tourist season, favorable weather and festive holidays.

Hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs have felt relieved with the arrival of guests after nearly two years. Before resuming the tourist area for the public, the municipality had arranged for the locals to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

With the increase in the number of vehicles coming and going to Mustang, the Beni-Jomsom road is facing the problem of traffic jams. In Annapurna Rural Municipality-3, Kavre, traffic has been affected as a vehicle collided in a one-way narrow road.

Sharma Gajurmukhi, the contractor of the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road project said that the road maintenance has been continued for the removal of stranded vehicles and for the operation of regular traffic.
