KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The government has been urged to clarify whether it plans to construct a national-level trauma centre in Dhalkebar of Madhesh Province as previously planned.
At Thursday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Nepali Congress lawmaker Dr Chandra Mohan Yadav raised the issue, urging the government not to abandon the plan to establish the trauma centre in Dhalkebar.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal directed the government to respond after lawmakers drew the House’s attention to the issue of national importance.

Yadav protested that the government appeared to be backing away from the previous government’s plan to construct the trauma centre in Dhalkebar. He said the plan should not be changed and stood silently to press the government for a response.
The protest prompted objections from lawmakers of the ruling parties, who questioned the practice of opposition lawmakers standing from their seats and being allowed to raise issues immediately after the meeting begins.
Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Manish Khanal urged the Speaker to end the practice, saying opposition lawmakers should raise their concerns at an appropriate time and under relevant agenda items.
Speaker Aryal then repeatedly requested Yadav to take his seat and maintain parliamentary discipline. However, Yadav continued to stand silently.
The Speaker later again allocated time for Yadav to speak. Yadav demanded a clear response from the government on whether it would construct the national-level trauma centre in Dhalkebar, which he described as a central location in Madhes Province.
